      <image:title>Sound Works - Still Here, 2013</image:title>
<image:caption>NEW ADVENTURES IN SOUND ART, TORONTO, CANADA DUN LOAGHAIRE INSTITUTE OF ART, DESIGN, TECHNOLOGY, DUBLIN, IRELAND SULLIVAN GALLERIES, CHICAGO, USA Still Here is a soundscape of the island of Santorini, in the Cyclades, Greece. The composition includes ambient sounds, talk, and music, exploring shared timelessness. The visual realm of Santorini is littered with signposts of modernity. There are electric wires sagging across the valleys and satellite dishes rusting on roofs. However, the scattered village soundtrack is almost entirely absent of sounds of the modern era. The island has increasingly become a tourist hotspot with local communities replaced by picture perfect facsimiles of themselves. We have selectively edited our recordings from Santorini to create a timeless map. It is fundamentally inaccurate, romanticized, the aural equivalent of a landscape photograph in which all pylons and road signs have been photoshopped into non-existence. Yet it is all drawn from the aural environment as it is today, and likely will be for many years to come. These soundscapes are transmitted on 5 very low power FM transmitters placed at a distance from each other in an empty room, transmitting on the same frequency. Five visitors at a time will be invited to enter the room, each with their own handheld radio receiver encased in a salvaged birdcage from one of Santorini's abandoned village houses. Now illegal, villagers traditionally captured North African goldfinches and decorated their terraces with birdsong. As they move, listeners reconstitute the landscape and its communities through a transmitted sonic landscape. Visitors can opt in and out of the various soundscapes from around the island, choosing to stand by one transmitter only or journeying to different environments: cliff tops, village domesticity, celebration, church bells, singing, shoreline and docks, terraces, rocks and tall grass.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Sound Works - Undercurrent</image:title>
<image:caption>Surrounding us there is a constantly vibrating field of energy. These vibrations can be caught within shapes of space and frequencies of time to form patterns that communicate. Undercurrent attempts to bring these subtle movements, and their potential relationships, into our field of focus. The rooms of A — DASH become an expanded instrument. Suspended piano wire, acoustically and electromagnetically amplified, emphasizes the geometry of the room. The harmonic relationships of these tones become visual patterns, through mirrors, speakers, and light. While the noise of the city activates and plays the suspended wires, rhythms from nature sound within the installation furniture. Visitors are invited to lie on the benches and experience listening through the ear, body, and eye.</image:caption>

Their interaction with these objects allows field recordings gathered from diverse environments around the world (insects harmonizing, birds calling, leaves rustling, streams babbling, car horns pipping, passers-by talking, dogs barking, bells ringing etc.) to be transformed into music. Following a musical performance by the artists, children and parents will be invited to play and create sound worlds for themselves.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Sound Works - Rounds</image:title>
<image:caption>Track 1 – Moxley Track 2 – Mozari Track 3 – Milano This record is engraved with three locked loop recordings from a large EMU synthesizer. Play 3 copies of the record on 3 record players spaced around the room. At different speeds and spatially distributed, the sounds will affect each other through beating and harmonic relationships. Produced in Chicago for Rounds, an exhibition at the ACRE Project Space that includes drawings and a harmonograph machine. Both the sonic and visual works represent simultaneous undulations through space that are pulled into a slower and more perceivable field of perception through their placement on relative planes.</image:caption>

<image:caption>MFA Thesis Exhibition, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sullivan Galleries, Chicago, IL Artist book, copper foil and magnet speakers, light diffusion and transparency images, desk with bone transduction speakers and back projection. Solo View addresses the story of Ivor B Webster, an Irish born U2 test pilot, who flew for decades with the CIA, Lockheed, and NASA. The implications of the observer as data collector are viewed through the personal and scientific materials that this pilot collected while on official missions as well as the recollections and observations of the pilot from those who knew him or knew of him.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Still Here (II) for Santozeum is the second iteration of an installation that transmits soundscapes from the island of Santorini using radio receivers built into locally salvaged birdcages. On this occasion our focus is on sonifying a bird's experience of the island’s magnetic field. Caught and held in tiny cages the bird’s song soundtracks moments of peace for their owners, as they sit surrounded by their cages on roof terraces in the relative quiet of late afternoon. Meanwhile the birds' reading of this pastoral idyll is possibly far more dramatic than listeners might expect. A field in constant flux, especially so due to the island's location amidst a volcanic range, is transmitting continually shifting queues that these birds are more prone to sense, even if they are unable to move. Still Here (II) is a spatialized installation that uses FM transmitters to aurally represent the deviation of the magnetic poles and the local magnetic field through the local, captive, avian perspective.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Eniokiazetai 17 - Dimensions 9 x 6 x 17</image:title>
<image:caption>For Enoikiazetai 17, April 2016 An improvised Performance for Project space Enoikoitezai 17, 6 Aristidiou This improvisation will activate the entire building of the stoa, with a focus of concentrated energy on the project space shop. The Stoa at 6 Aristidiou has 9 stories and the project space is at #17 9 improvisers, stationed through out the building at 9 positions. 3 changes of doubling or halving rhythm 17 ending pulse trills Starting Positions 1. Top of stairs 2. Balcony 3. Corner opposite the shop 4. Under shop in garage 5. In stone wall artifact in garage 6. Elevator 7. By the front entrance 8. At base of walkway in garage 9. Within the shop Everyone will begin pulsing on one note from the harmonic series, pictured above. Luka will send a tempo via a drum machine to the walkie-talkies. Go ½ time, ¼ time, 1/8 time with this rhythm. The musician at the top of the stairs will slowly descend. Over the course of the improvisation, each musician will move 9 times, towards the shop. This movement is led by the musician descending the 9 stories of the building. After the descending musician reaches each floor, they will send a walkie-talkie message, which will reach the musician in the elevator, the musician on the balcony, and one musician in the basement (who will all also have walkie-talkies on the same frequency). This lets the others know to move to the next position and to change their note to the next in the harmonic series that they choose. Those without walkie-talkies just need to listen the shift in tones in the building. Each musician chooses for themselves what their next “station” will be, just knowing the final 9th movement will bring them into the shop. At the 3rd, 6th, and 9th (in the shop), movement musicians will either halve or double their tempo. When everyone reaches the shop, a bike light will go off, and Alyssa will tap the window (which makes a big sound!) 3 times. We will all play 17 trilling pulses (at whatever tempo you choose, syncopation welcome and whatever note in the series you choose, harmonic timbre welcome). Each musician stops after their 17th pulse.</image:caption>

<image:caption>TEMPS ZERO is a collective artistic project combining images with sound, and creating a striking symbiotic relationship between the different mediums: photography, films, music and field recordings. Since 2013, TEMPS ZERO brings together international visual and sound artists who share the same ethic approach to life and creation, all carried by an existential vision and a form of poetic resistance to the world. The project has taken place in various European cities, where each event had a new and evolving form: screenings often accompanied by live soundtracks, exhibitions, workshops and publications. TEMPS ZERO is an independent project created with artists working outside the main creative establishments. It resonates with a great freedom of expression and an intense creative impulse. Photographs and films by Michael Ackerman, Gaël Bonnefon, Martin Bogren, Lorenzo Castore, Stéphane Charpentier, Clara Chichin, Adam Grossman Cohen, Damien Daufresne, Gabrielle Duplantier, Theo Elias, Nicu Ilfoveanu, Marco Marzocchi, Lorena Morin, Patricia Morosan, Alisa Resnik, Gilles Roudière, Uli M Schueppel, Marie Sordat Sound installation and composition by Alyssa Moxley with additional sounds by David Bryant and Vlad Fenesan Curator : Stéphane Charpentier Associate curators: Patricia Morosan, Alyssa Moxley Guest curator : Sandra Demetrecu Text by Caroline Benichou</image:caption>

<image:caption>Sound installation by Alyssa Moxley, with David Bryant and Vlad Fenesan Technical support by Alexandros Drymonitis Approaching the sensors turns up different sounds across six speakers, creating a shifting soundscape. They can be heard singly cutting through the background, or layered up as many viewers activate them. Sounds of daily life are captured and arranged: voices, winds, fauna, machines, sounds that linger subtly to create atmosphere or flickering, grab the attention briefly, surging drones in the city that overpower the body. The aural and the visual interact, creating moments of shifting synchronicity, and unearthing embedded poetry within each medium.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In "Forest of Sound", young visitors are invited to contemplate the sounds of the natural world and of the city beneath sculptural trees which, inspired by the oracle of Dodona, are hung with various sounding objects: fruit, papier mâché leaves and everyday objects.

      <image:title>Temps Zero</image:title>

      <image:title>Retrace - Undercurrent</image:title>

      <image:title>Retrace - Forest of Sound</image:title>
<image:caption>In "Forest of Sound", young visitors are invited to contemplate the sounds of the natural world and of the city beneath sculptural trees which, inspired by the oracle of Dodona, are hung with various sounding objects: fruit, papier mâché leaves and everyday objects.

      <image:title>Retrace - Rounds</image:title>
